ARAUTO — multilingual catechism app with AI companion

ARAUTO (own venture)Founder & sole builder2025AIGrowth

3-language app with 5 lessons and AI saint companion

The problem

Traditional catechism education relies on in-person classes with limited accessibility for people who want to learn at their own pace, in their own language. Existing digital resources are static PDFs or simple websites that don't adapt to the learner's pace or provide interactive guidance.

What I did

Designed a gamified learning experience across three languages

Built a complete learning app supporting Portuguese, Spanish, and English — the three languages I speak fluently. Each of the five lessons includes structured content, interactive quizzes, and progress tracking. The gamification layer keeps learners engaged without trivializing the subject matter.

Integrated an AI companion via Anthropic API

The standout feature is an AI companion modeled as a saint's conversational persona. Using the Anthropic API, learners can ask questions about the lesson material and receive thoughtful, doctrinally grounded responses. The companion adapts its language and complexity to the learner's demonstrated level.

Shipped end-to-end in weeks, not months

From concept to production in under a month, leveraging Claude Code for rapid prototyping and iteration. The speed wasn't at the expense of quality — the app has clean UI, smooth animations, and robust error handling.

What I learned

Multilingual product design is more than translation. Each language community has different expectations for tone, formality, and interaction patterns. What feels warm and inviting in Portuguese can feel overly casual in Spanish. AI-powered content generation helps, but human judgment on cultural nuance is irreplaceable.
